A social media code of ethics for the Nike Company.
Preamble
The Nike company is committed to provide innovative and inclusive products to help expand the human potential. Nike does not tolerate discrimination in any sort. When associated with the Nike company we embrace our team of diversity. Social media plays a huge role in this company and we are committed to be as transparent and respect the choices of every individual.
Code of Ethics:
1. The Nike company is committed to be as honest and respectful to our employees, consumers, and athletes. Nike has a zero tolerance policy on discrimination. Employees are prohibited to part take in any activity that involves being disrespectful, deceptive, hurtful, or discriminatory whether it is in person or on social media.
2. Nike commits to create trust when it comes to their consumers personal data when interacting. As in, keep personal information confidential. Nike will only utilize the data to perform the job. Using confidential data for personal use is strictly prohibited.
3. The Nike company must maintain consistency when communicating to consumers on any social media platform. Nike employees need to ensure everyone is on the same page. Clear and concise communication when interacting with our consumers is crucial. We want to make sure our consumers are informed as much as possible without giving them misinformation. This will then decrease the potential for a consumer being confused because they receive consistent information through any social platform.
4. It is important when Nike posts any content of a person, that the company receives consent from the individual involved in the post. This will create trust when partnering with someone outside of Nike. Demonstrating the level of commitment Nike has ensuring the safety and respect of the creator.
5. When handling consumer grievances Nike has a whole page to ‘Get Help’ consumers can refer to. All Nike employees need to be informed on where to direct consumers when handling grievances. If a consumer is being persistent with a grievance on any Nike social media account it is best to interact with the consumer privately. This will then protect the brand with Nike and will benefit the consumer to be talked to directly.
6. When it comes to Nike employees personal social media accounts please be mindful of what kind of content you post. Nike employees are responsible to uphold the company’s reputation whether one is on or off the clock.
7. Nike employees who are in charge of the Nike owned social media accounts must only interact with other posts and accounts that pertain to the company. The content being interacted with needs to be accurate, relevant, and uphold Nike’s reputation.
